Q: What are the benefits of solar screens?

A: Provides protection against sun rot and fading. Reduces glare, provides daytime privacy, while still providing full vision inside out. Lets in soft light, and breezes, with the window open, but keeps bugs out. The chart below shows a window with Brown SunTex installed. In midsummer as much as 230 BTUs can fall on each unprotected square foot of glass. With SunTex installed, up to 80% of the sun's heat and glare is reflected, absorbed and dissipated before it strikes the window.

Q: Can you create screens for odd shaped windows, such as round top or arches?

A: Yes, we custom build the screens to match the size and shape of most windows. We can also duplicate colonial grids in the screen, to enhance the appearance of the windows.

Q: What colors are available for my screens?

A: Phifer Suntex 80 and 90 both come in brown, black, grey (also known as charcoal) and stucco.

Q: Are there any special maintenance requirements?

A: No, all the solar screens are made from fiberglass weave, and may be cleaned with mild soap and water.
